Prevent Locks From Freezing This Winter With This Smart Tip
To prevent locks from freezing during the winter, a simple yet effective tip is to wrap a fluffy, woolen sock or a thick towel around your padlock.
Thin socks can also work, but you'll need to layer a few to achieve the desired effect. Place the sock over the lock and secure it with a knot to ensure it stays in place.
Simply remove the sock when you want to open the lock. In particularly cold regions, spraying a lubricant like WD-40 inside the lock can help prevent ice formation.
Keep the sock dry because a wet sock will freeze, making it challenging to remove. Since the sock must wrap entirely around the lock, this trick won’t work for car and door locks.
