The Glass In Your Home Will Sparkle With An Unexpected Pantry Item
The effective and environmentally friendly way to clean your glass stovetop, windows, and tables and leave them streak-free is to make a DIY glass cleaner from cornstarch.
Cornstarch is a natural alternative to harsh cleaners. Its mild abrasive properties remove stains from glass without damaging it, while its natural absorbency soaks up dirt.
For routine cleaning, mix ½ gallon of warm water and ¼ cup of cornstarch in a bucket, wash your windows using a microfiber cloth, then wipe them down with newspaper or a squeegee.
To deep-clean, mix 2 cups of water, ¼ cup of rubbing alcohol, ¼ cup of white vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a spray bottle. Spray your windows, then wipe with a cloth.
To clean grease and food on your stovetop, mix 1 cup of cornstarch and 2 cups of water into a paste, spread it over the stovetop, and let it sit for 20 minutes to absorb grease.
Then, scrub away the stains or residue and wipe away the cornstarch mixture with a wet cloth. Use the same paste to scrub burnt-on food in your pans and restore their shine.
