The Gorgeous White Wildflower You Can Grow In A Shady Garden
Many flowering plants prefer lots of sunlight, making it hard to find ones that tolerate shade. Luckily, the twinleaf flower features lovely white blooms that thrive in the dark.
Native to North America, twinleaf is hardy in USDA zones 4 to 9 and grows up to 18 inches tall. Its bright white flowers bloom from April through May, attracting many pollinators.
Twinleaf needs moist, well-draining soil to grow and doesn’t tolerate full sun or droughts well. Since it’s resilient to heavy shading, it’ll thrive underneath trees and shrubs.
Add organic matter to your garden bed to encourage blooms, and water regularly to keep the soil moist but not soggy. You may need to guard against rabbits and watch for weeds, too.
